Facsimile

Do not lasso the white horse
Or the black swan
Capture their shadows instead
Let the horse run green into the sun
And the swan coast blue in the brook
Do not lasso the fading sun
When it shadows the purpling moon
And darkens the world

Photograph the white horse
And the black swan
Puppet them into a shadow box
Paste the moon behind them
On black velvet
The sun red beside it
Never catch wild horses or gliding swans
Leave them free to soar.
