A New Englander by birth but a Southwesterner by choice, I draw on my past environments for inspiration in both art and writing: New England, the Southeast, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic enriched my perspectives on the way to a permanent base in Tucson, Arizona. Here, I paint and exhibit work in oil and acrylic on canvas, functional objects, and textiles. With the advent of digital photography, I have discovered the fascination of transforming ordinary photographs digitally into pieces of art. After the death of my oldest son from AIDS, I wrote The Screaming Room, published in 1986; subsequently, several pieces on AIDS, AIDS caregiving and family support and art therapy for people with AIDS were published in professional journals. Poetry and short stories are my principal literary forms at present and several have been included in anthologies and won contest prizes.
